Artobi Studio is a jewelry business I created, I make and sell acrylic and polymer clay earrings.

Artobi Studio

Right now my shop is limited to Etsy, and while Etsy is a great platform to start a business, I dream of the day that I would outgrow Etsy and have my own website.  

Problem  

The main reason I wanted to design a website for Artobi is because the way my Etsy shop is currently set up, it hard for me to reach my target audience.

Etsy's target audience is too broad, so It's hard to nail down a technique to pull my target audience toward my shop.

Target Audience

Young Adults and Middle-Age women in the workforce who loves statement earrings

Design Process 

While designing the mobile experience for my website, I knew I wanted my website to look clean and colorful.

I wanted it to look inviting to both new and old customers, I spaced out the product listings to make it easy for the customers to read the names and prices of the earrings, and I took product pictures with colorful backgrounds so that the customer's eyes could move easier across the page.

Mobile Home Page

For the home page, I used a lot of colors to showcase my products, and to balance that a little better I made sure to use slightly muted colors so that the customers wouldn't feel overwhelmed when they are scrolling through the page.

I also spaced out the products listing so its not like all clumped together.

Design Process II 

For the individual product page, I wanted the design to look seamless and I wanted to make it easy for the customers to choose the earring they want to buy and add to cart.

For the color selection part of the page, I first made it to be a drop list button where the customers would click it and choose what color earring they want, but I decided against that design because I wanted to give the customers a nice experience where they can look through the color at the same time and confidently pick the ones they want.

This is final mock-up design for the product listing page.

Outcome and Edits 

I liked the design I came up with for Artobi Studio.

I design it with the target audience in mind, and I feel that the color and layout I used would catch their attention. But if I could also go back and fix this design, I would change a few things.

  • I would get accurate user-testing.

  • I would space the layout out even more 

  • I would add a light mode and a dark mode option at the top

  • I would be on a team instead of doing it all myself
